On June 15, the Pushkin Institute hosted a scientific and expert session of the CIS International Parliamentary Forum "Pushkin Readings". The rector of the Institute Natalia Trukhanovskaya made a welcoming speech.
The forum is dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS countries. Among the guests were representatives of Russian departments and Commonwealth republics, as well as experts from the Pushkin Institute:
- Kazbek Taisaev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots;
- Tatiana Shlychkova, Deputy Director of the Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations;
- Vadim Zaichikov, Head of the Department of Education and Science of Rossotrudnichestvo;
- Sergey Malyshev, Acting Director of the Center for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation;
- Andrey Shcherbakov, Director of the Department of Scientific Activity of the Pushkin Institute;
- Elmira Afanasyeva, Head of Pushkin Projects at the Pushkin Institute;
- Maria Kurska, Director of the Department for International Scientific and Educational Cooperation of the RUDN;
- Larisa Petruchak, First Vice-Rector-Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of MGLU;
- Inal Gablia, Minister of Education and Language Policy of the Republic of Abkhazia;
- Ivan Saverchenko, Director of the Institute of Literary Studies. Yanka Kupala of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus;
- Batma Topoeva-Stavinskaya, Director of the state institution "Kyrgyztest" under the National Commission on the State Language and Language Policy under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The participants presented the results of the work on the support and promotion of the Russian language. The plans include the opening of schools, the inclusion of countries in partner networks, educational and awareness—raising events, international exchanges and much more.
The guests shared stories related to the Russian language, and the performance of Inal Gablia, who read an excerpt from "Eugene Onegin" in the Abkhaz language, was especially striking.
